TOM VOYCE (b 1989), is an artist from the UK.

Voyce trained at the Aberystwyth University School of Fine Art in Wales.  He gained his Bachelors degree in 2011, and went on to complete his Masters which allowed him to refine his practice whilst working & teaching at HE level.  This included a trip to China in 2014 where he taught life drawing.

In 2017 Voyce won the 'Sky landscape Artist of the Year', claiming the 10 000 Pounds commission from the Theatre Royal, Drury lane, London which required him to travel to Jamaica and paint the view from legendary playwright Noel Cowards' house.

Heavily influenced by 20th Century American abstraction, Toms' work treads a tightrope between figuration & abstraction.  It is a tension between these styles - often unresolved that gives the work the very energy & vibrancy that make the paintings so successful.

His language is one of abstract concerns - shape, dimension, tone, colour, marks etc, balanced with the presence of organic forms where landscape provides a rationale or pattern informs his compositions.

The subject at hand is not the landscape itself, but rather the components of such that make up our perception & experience of a place; light, tone, shadow, colour ..

We are offered fleeting moments within a landscape - the fall of light on a building; shadows cast by a motorway flyover.  It is the sense of 'place' or being present within a particular space, at a particular moment that give these works their strength.

Tom has exhibited widely - London, Cardiff. Nottingham, Lisbon .. and now New Zealand .  His journey will also take him to Canada, USA, & Fiji .. all befitting of his favourite subject matter - "places of transit".
